A person was shot and killed by Costa Mesa police on Friday, Feb. 19, when he drove his automotive towards officers making an attempt to take him into custody in a motel parking zone, authorities stated.

At round 10:30 a.m. officers have been investigating a automotive with three occupants on the La Quinta Inn on South Coast Drive off of Harbor Boulevard, Costa Mesa Lt. Bryan Wadkins stated. Police didn’t say what the officers have been investigating.

The officers detained two of the individuals within the automotive, a person and girl, Wadkins stated. When officers tried to take the driving force into custody, he reversed the automotive and hit his passengers.

Then he accelerated towards officers and didn’t observe their instructions, which prompted the capturing, Wadkins stated.

It wasn’t instantly clear what number of officers fired. One of many two passengers struck by the automotive was hospitalized; it was unclear with what accidents.

The Orange County District Legal professional’s Workplace is investigating the capturing as is typical in shootings involving cops.
